Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)

Buckley Air Force Base is located in Aurora, Colorado and is home to the 460th Operations Group, the 460th Medical Group and the 460th Comptroller Squadron. New construction has been going on at the base since 2000 and includes a new enlisted airmen’s dorm, a commissary, base exchange and fitness center. The largest tenant at Buckley is the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard which offers support services during national emergencies and natural disasters. Buckley Air Force Base includes over 70 tenants in all. Housing prices tend to run high in nearby communities with homes for sale ranging in the upper 200’s. Many on-post housing amenities include dishwasher and access to full-size washer and dryer. Utilities are often included in the overall rental rate which can run between $1000 and $2000 a month. The housing office will be able to determine your basic housing allowance and which property would be best suited for you. The Buckley Family Housing Center is located at 17300 East Keystone Boulevard, Aurora, CO.
Temporary lodging is provided by hotels and motels as there are no intermediate housing facilities available at Buckley Air Force Base. Off-post housing can be found in the surrounding communities of Aurora, Lakewood, and Denver. Depending on location, children could be enrolled in the Aurora Public School District which offers educational offerings from K-12. There are many private schools in the area as well. The Buckley Child Development Program provides child care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Childcare fees are determined based on a family’s income. The New Parent Program offers life skills training for those families with new infants or who are expecting. The 460 Medical Squadron provides medical care for Buckley Air Force Base and the surrounding community.
